Eagles Champions Trophy 2024 Rules:
Update: 9 October 2024
This is more about claryfying existing rule. Chucking is allowed. However, you have to run and deliver ball with a bowling action.
This is also more about clarying the rule posted prior to the tournament. If a player is injured, subsititute player can be picked from tournament players with agreement from playing captains, and committee. In case no agreement is reached, we move to waiting list players [see at the end of this page], where the playing captain of the injured player side chooses from the pre-defined category, and committee approves. The opposite captain has no say in that case.
Update: 3 October 2024
Following our discussion last Wednesday (3 October 2024) with the umpires' panel and the committee, please take note of the following updates:
1. If the ball hits in between the white tape on the nets ( marker for wides), it will not be considered a wide ball. A ball will only be called wide if it hits outside of the white tape marker.
2. Bowlers are not allowed to position their fielder on the running crease, including the boundary line behind the umpire. However, bowlers are permitted to set up fielders anywhere else on the ground. Batsmen may position themselves as per their convenience once the fielders are placed on the ground.
Update: 26 September 2024
1. No more comments from the backside of the net or sideline of the court towards players who are playing the match.
2. No one is allowed to hold the back net while the game is in progress, except the Media team for photo-taking purposes.
3. "Bowler line Paise 🤣" type comments are completely prohibited 🚫.
4. No one places any item near to/on the net, which may cause injury to the players.
Last updated: 24 September 2024
1. Each team can have a maximum of 6 players for a 9-over match.
2. The 6 players can bat with each pair facing 3 overs each.
3. Three bowlers from each team can bowl a maximum of 2 overs each.
4. Each team must complete their 9 overs of bowling within 27 minutes. After 27 minutes, the bowling team will be penalised -2 runs for each minute. The match referee, committee, and umpires will confirm the timing. However, time can sometimes be allocated less than 27 minutes (reasonable and equal for both teams) in a match that requires technical investigation (for example, scoring).
5. The batting team must send new batters to the crease within 30 seconds of the pair changing over after 3 overs. Otherwise, a -2 penalty will apply to the batting team.
6. Max 3 fielders (including bowler) behind the half crease. Max 2 players in the long boundary. Wicket-keeper is not mandatory.
7. Players can play for the other team under the discretion of captains and the committee in case of unexpected situations or unavailability of a player.
Otherwise, waiting list players will get the chance as per the committee's approval.
8. Mankad (run out) is allowed without warnings.
9. Batters will receive the benefit of the doubt for close run-out calls.
10. The main umpire will make the final decision on any runouts and wides. The leg umpires will confirm the batting side run outs and waist height NO balls and scorers will support the main umpire for ball counting.
11. Batters cannot take runners unless they are injured during the match. The opponent captain will decide who will be the runner, preventing any team from taking advantage of fast runners.
12. Any full-toss above waist height will be called a no-ball and counted as a beamer. If a bowler bowls two beamers in an over, the bowler will receive a no-ball plus a 7-run penalty (NB7 scoring code will be added to the batting side).
13. It is the captain's responsibility to manage their team and players' attendance in the match. Captains will communicate directly with their team players for rules, attendance, and game preparation.
14. The committee and tournament referee will resolve any new matters outside of the rules, and will be followed for that match and rest of the matches.
15. All umpires will follow one standard rule for wide calls, which will be explained to all umpires and captains before the tournament begins.
16. If fielders are moving or talking during the bowling time, umpires will call a no-ball.
17. If the bowler bowls a ball that bounces two times or more before reaching the batsman, it will be called a dead ball, and no runs will be counted.
18. The umpire's decision is final. However, captains can raise their concerns after the match to the tournament referee. Additionally, all captains will vote for the best umpire selection, who will receive the best umpire's prize. Umpires will try for fair umpiring to be the best umpire of the tournament.
19. The tournament referee will select the most spirited team of the tournament based on the team players following the Eagles values.
20. Winning teams will receive 2 points, while the losing team will receive no points. The top two teams will compete in the final. In the event of teams having an equal number of points after 3 matches, the team rankings will be based on the total number of runs scored after three matches.
21. The ball will be considered dead if it goes outside of the court. However, if the ball goes through the straight boundary net, it will be counted as 5 or 7 runs.
22. If the batter steps outside of the crease to hit a full toss ball, it will not be considered a no ball.
23. If a team is unable to complete their match by 8:30 in the first match and by 9:30 in the second match, the committee will decide the result based on the average runs scored per over by both teams.
24. Miscellaneous: Consecutive 3 dot ball will be considered as out. Any leg side ball that is not hitting anything (stamp, leg, or bat) will be considered wide. The same bowler cannot bowl 2 over to the same pair of batters.
25. The bowler can give only one bouncer per over. However, if the bouncer goes above head height, it will be called a wide ball. The second bouncer of the over will be called NO ball.
Please ensure you all are clear about the rules 6,8,9,10,12,15,16,17,21,22,24 and 25.
Most importantly-
Rule 9 - NO batsman will be run out unless it is clearly visible to everyone that the batsman was out of the crease. The batsman will always get the benefit of the doubt for the runout calls.
Rule 12 - any full toss ball above waist height ( no matter slow bowler or fast bowler) or whether the ball would have hit the wicket or not will be called NO ball unless the batsman goes outside of the crease ( Rule 22) will apply.
Rule 25 per over, the bowler can give only one bouncer. However, if the bouncer goes above head height, it will be called a wide ball. The second bouncer of the over will be called NO ball.
Rule 15 we will put white tape on the nets. Ball hits outside of the white tape will be called WIDE. It won't matter spin bowler or swing ɓowler or where the ball pitches. The WIDE will be called based on if the ball inside the white tape or outside the white tape when it will hit the net.
